My Son Travis will be getting married in 4 days. Mina his bride is a wonderful young woman. She is Pursian and simply beautiful. They love each other and feel the need to be married. The minor details that complicate all this are many. The wedding date was pushed forward because Travis is property of the 82nd Airborne. US Army. While he has not seen much combat he has lost friends. His original mission on the first part of the invasion was to drop in to the Bagdad international airport. Fortunatly that was scrapped. He has completed two tours in Iraq and will be on his way to Afganistan sometime next spring or sooner for a one year stint. His bride will try to finish college here in California. They have no money. No place to live they can call their own. God bless them. There going to need all the help they can get. There is wonderful saying that goes 'Love conquers all'. This maybe so, however real life can give you a hell of a battle along the way.

I recently went to funeral of a distant family member. It was a simple service that educated me and filled in the blanks of the last 15 years since I saw Bill. A great friend gave the service and spoke from the heart. The stories and recollections were great and could have left me with the wonderful feeling that Bill had lived a full life. I say 'could have' because it was all ruined by the Stepson who took the occasion to preach and try to convert the gathering in the most moronic and heavyhanded speech that I have ever heard. It lasted 45 minutes. We were prisoners of this ass. No one left the service out of respect for the widow but it was so tempting. I tried to put myself into a dream state to resist rushing up to the podium and killing this fool. How dare he.
